Film news
Thank you Edwin for emailing me about this. There are a couple of articles about Shirley's upcoming films.
First there is this paragraph about Master Of Lies taken from here.
Currently in pre-production - 'MASTER OF LIES' is a fascinating, sexually-charged thriller which will be directed by a master of the genre. Marr is a celebrated author who simultaneously reaches the pinnacle of his illustrious career and has a major crisis in his life. He starts to suffer from attacks of blindness which he keeps secret from his friends and family. At the same time a mysterious woman publicly claims to be his lover and threatens to expose the real corruption in the author’s life. To compound matters, Cormack, a young and envious journalist, seems determined to destroy his reputation. Questions are raised when Cormack’s girlfriend is brutally and ritualistically murdered. Was Marr so enraged by Cormack’s investigations that he set out to seek revenge? And rather than being pursued, is Marr luring Cormack to his death, creating a web of lies in order to trap the younger man?
Next is this information on I Really Hate My Job, taken from here.
LONDON, August 9: 3DD Productions, a division of the 3DD Group, has expanded into the feature film world, beginning production in London on the comedy I Really Hate My Job.
Directed by Oliver Parker, the film stars Neve Campbell (Scream), Shirley Henderson (Marie-Antoinette, Harry Potter), Alexandra Maria Lara (Downfall), Anna Maxwell Martin (Bleak House) and Oana Pellea (Youth Without Youth). It focuses on five waitresses in a second-rate London restaurant over the course of one tumultuous night.
The film is a 3DD Productions production in association with Lunar Films. Centerplan Entertainment is the major financier. The film is co-presented by The Works Media Group, with The Works International handling world sales.

Puffins mate for life, but are humans capable of the same? It's a question for troubled teenager Isla, stuck in the confines of a small seaside cottage with sexy mother Ali (Shirley Henderson), her boyfriend Gav and their baby boy.

Sofia defends Marie Antoinette
Director Sofia Coppola has hit back at critics who mauled her new movie Marie-Antoinette as an attempt to Americanize French history. Coppola's film chronicles the life of the tragic French queen during the revolution in the 1790s. It has been criticized for its American pop video feel, but Coppola insists she wanted to accentuate the youthful slant to the story. She says, "I wasn't making a political movie about the French revolution, I was making a portrait of Marie-Antoinette and my opinions are in the film. We modernized certain things that were relate-able to me and a modern audience. The story is about teenagers in Versailles, so I wanted it to have that energy of youth and teenage feeling to it." source:imdb.

Marie Antoinette booed at Cannes
Sofia Coppola's eagerly awaited new movie Marie-Antoinette, which stars Kirsten Dunst, didn't get quite the reception they were expecting in Cannes this week: in fact, critics disliked it so much they booed during the first press screening. However, the Oscar-winning director says she's not worried. Speaking to reporters after the event, Coppola noted: "It's better to get a reaction, it's better than a mediocre response. Hopefully some people will enjoy it. I think it's not for everybody." Meanwhile, the film's leading lady is also towing the party line. "I like the movie and I'm really proud," said Kirsten. New Shirley short film
So I was looking for some photos of Shirley in Fishy earlier and I stumbled upon another short film; HunBun BunBun.
HunBun and BunBun are locked in a silent power struggle over an orange. BunBun picks his teeth and HunBun hands him a toothpick from the floor covered in dirt. This provokes HunBun to snap and she begs the camera to rewind, allowing them to start again. HunBun persuades BunBun to talk to her and he obliges offering her his seat. Their roles reverse as they rewind their tale to find a sense of balance.
To see a clip of HunBun BunBun see here. You need Realplayer 8 to see it.
To watch Fishy see here.
